To be perfectly honest, it feels like the world is falling apart. The past few days have been nothing short of terrifying, and so many are so tragically divided. As we ask ourselves what we can do in times like these, I haven’t any answer but “that which we can best do to make something better.” And so, as we open Rusalka at Arizona Opera tonight, that’ll have to do.

Despite the turmoil, putting this show together has been a fantastic process, and it’s really a beautiful and touching production with two extraordinary casts. It’s a wonderful culmination for the Fall, which has been busy with all sorts of singing – AZO Studio Artist performances of all sorts, the AZO Sapphire Celebration Gala performances with the legendary Frederica von Stade and other extraordinary artists, and a quick jaunt to San Francisco to reprise Elinor Armer's Summer Garden with violist Jodi Levitz and pianist Robin Sutherland.
Audition season has also begun, and I’m thrilled to have just signed my contract to return as an Apprentice Singer to the Santa Fe Opera in Summer 2017. I’ll be performing the role of Teacher in The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs on the mainstage, as well as covering the role of Amelfa in The Golden Cockerel and performing in the choruses of The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, The Golden Cockerel, and Lucia di Lammermoor.
